The Agribusiness Development Centre launched its Business Acceleration Program (BAP) to its partners and stakeholders on the 18th of August, 2022. Powered by dfcu Bank and Rabo Foundation, the accelerator program was launched to enable 350 agribusinesses (40% women-led) to become self-sufficient, create new jobs, and link at least 50% of these agribusinesses to financing and markets.
Objectives of Each Cohort
This first cohort aimed at attracting women-led agribusinesses to get out of the ideation phase by offering them a business acceleration opportunity, and 33 enterprises were chosen following the call that was put out. The program includes special trainings, mentorship, coaching, and networking. All participants will be guided by professionals in their acceleration path with an opportunity to discuss compliance matters with experts, all of which will help their enterprises expedite growth and scale.

For our second and third cohorts, we partnered with GOPA Worldwide Consultants {Enhancing the Competitiveness of Small and Medium Enterprises in Uganda (ECOS) Project funded by GIZ}, to take on businesses it has evaluated and deemed eligible for our program to support their business acceleration. This collaboration aims to increase over 100 Agribusinesses’ competitiveness with the overarching goal of triggering necessary linkages for its growth and resultant creation and improvement of jobs. We had a total of 110 participants from 59 enterprises, with 52 of the enterprises participating in the intensive training and mentorship sessions.
Together, we aim to create meaningful impact in the agribusiness landscape, fostering innovation, creating jobs, and promoting inclusivity. Looking ahead, we encourage agribusiness entrepreneurs to stay tuned to our social media channels and website for updates on the upcoming cohort launch.
