Interactive Voice Response (IVR) technology emerges yet another innovative solution within the realm of agricultural education, leveraging voice-based training to transcend traditional barriers. Utilizing recorded messages, this approach has successfully digitized over six comprehensive training courses. Among them are crucial subjects such as Financial Literacy, to instill foundational knowledge in managing finances; Weather, to develop an understanding of meteorological patterns affecting agriculture; and Agronomy, which includes tailored content for four specific value chains—beans, coffee, bananas, and dairy.
The reach and impact of this technology are impressive: over 3,000 farmers have been digitally profiled, with a substantial portion receiving targeted training. Of these, a striking 85% (approximately 2,550 individuals) have been trained in agronomy, gaining vital expertise in crop management and soil health. Furthermore, 50% (around 1,500 participants) have enhanced their financial acumen, and 40% (about 1,200 learners) now possess updated knowledge on weather patterns and market fluctuations.
